You'd think we'd never left Dhaka - hot and steamy, occasional thunderstorms. Welcome to Washington, DC in the summer time. Still, better to be here now than during the cold and messy winter season; especially since we haven't owned kids' winter clothes for the past several years now.

Life in our current transient state has been pretty good. There's plenty to do for all of us, so it's more a matter of prioritizing how we want to spend our time together. We try to get out and do fun things on the weekend, or at least what sounds like fun. This afternoon for example, we decided to follow up on a flyer we'd seen in the neighborhood, promising a family-friendly festival with lots of crafts, music, food, and activities for all ages. Not that the organizers, but we got there and found one stage with a loud band playing and one crafts booth with not very exciting offerings. On the other hand, sometimes we discover someplace really interesting, like Glen Echo Park in nearby Maryland. It spent most of its life as an amusement park, but is now a kind of artists' community, set in the midst of a bunch of wonderful Art Deco architecture.

The kids have been doing great, and have been enjoying poking around garage sales, visiting local playgrounds, and hanging out with the other kids who live all around us.
